Royals
On 10/21/14, Doug caught San Francisco Giants World Series fever, just as some SF radio stations were banning Lorde’s hit song “Royals.” So he wrote and recorded his own version of the song, with Giants-friendly lyrics. It aired on KCBS and was picked up by the San Francisco Chronicle and other sites. A professional singer who wants to remain anonymous heard it, loved it and recorded her own, amazing, version of Doug’s lyrics. She does an uncanny Lorde imitation. Doug admits she sings it way better than he ever could. But let’s see her cover politics.
MYSTERY SINGER HITS “ROYALS” OUT OF THE PARK:
Here’s a link to the YouTube video that goes with the Mystery Singer’s rendition.
And here is Doug’s original demo version, which aired on the radio on 10/21/14, earning him the scorn and ridicule of most of the newsroom:
The Lyrics:
You’ve never seen baseball played like this
I cut my teeth on Willie Mays
And McCovey
You can’t mess with our success
It’s a dynasty
Ring number three
And every game it’s like Posey, Panda, Panik or Pence is
Finding all the gaps and swinging for the fences
We don’t care
The ball’s flying through the air
And every game it’s like Blanco, Crawford, Morse or Ishikawa
Never know just who’ll supply the power
We don’t care
We snatch wins out of thin air
And now we’re gonna beat the Royals, Royals
There’s no way to stop us
Steal some bases if you must
We’re gonna leave you in the dust
Yeah we’re gonna beat the Royals, Royals
Gonna end their destiny
Hey KC
You can’t stop our dynasty
Bruce Bochy pulls the strings
We’ve got two Series rings
On our fingers
And everyone in baseball knows
It’s an even year
So we’ll win another
And every game it’s like,
Posey, Panda, Panik or Pence is
Finding all the gaps and swinging for the fences
We don’t care
The ball’s flying through the air
And every game it’s like
Mad Bum, Huddy, Romo and Casilla
You can’t hit them
Wouldn’t want to be ya
We don’t care
‘Cause we’ve all got orange hair
And now we’re gonna beat the Royals, Royals
There’s no way to stop us
Steal some bases if you must
You’re gonna get thrown out by Buster
We’re gonna beat the Royals, Royals
Gonna end their destiny
Hey KC
You can’t stop our dynasty

Great lyrics!!
You remind me of Ron De Lacy and his band of two:
Doo doo waa
He too was like you.
He was an old friend from Sonora.
